Questionables Recreation Zone Stoneware Ashtray (2 Grooves)

The Questionables Recreation Zone Ashtray is a durable stoneware ashtray with two rest grooves, decorated with a leaf pattern and the words "Recreation Zone" in an earthy, muted color palette.

If you want an ashtray that looks like it belongs on a living room shelf rather than a bar patio, this one has a handmade, ceramic studio feel. Two grooves mean two people can set something down at once, which makes it a good fit for a porch or a small get together.

How to use and clean it. Stoneware is heavy and stable, so it will not slide or tip as easily as glass or tin. Empty it once ash has fully cooled, never straight into a trash bag. Hand wash with warm, soapy water and a soft brush; a short soak loosens residue in the grooves. Avoid sudden temperature changes, like moving it from a cold porch straight into hot water, which can crack any ceramic.

Beyond ash. Its flat, open shape also works as a catch all for keys, rings or lip balm when it is not on ash duty.

Placement and decor. Questionables designs home goods with a sense of humor, and the earthy palette on this piece fits in with neutral, wood and plant heavy decor. Set it on a coaster or felt pad if your table has a delicate finish, since unglazed stoneware bases can scratch wood. Keep it out of reach of pets that like to knock things off tables: stoneware is durable, but a drop onto tile will still chip it.

Compare and pair. Need more rests or a deeper bowl? The Lucky Heart Dice Ashtray has four grooves and a deep inset. For a clean, minimal look, the Glass Ashtray is our clear option. Keep the room fresh with the Pot Pourri Smoke Odor Eliminating Candle.
